Pecados y Milagros

http://www.npr.org/2011/10/23/141546950/first-listen-lila-downs-pecados-y-milagros-sins-and-miracles

“It is necessary to call to free the monsters within us” , they say this woman of strikingly beautiful, grown in the shade and in light of the Mixtec culture that constantly defends artistic fervor, and the U.S. as a child father “gringo”, professor of film and culture typical product of the sixties, who died when Lila was barely a teenager of 16 years.

The anthropologist in the University of Minnesota to whom the huge Chavela Vargas has named his heir “to all the singers we may fight among ourselves” , says Downs , is not a political figure. At least not in the military sense of a party or support a particular government. However, his voice has done for its culture, its origins, women farmers in the plain Mixtec, more than any deputy.

    I was just sent this : http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/12/22/1100-year-old-mayan-ruins-found-in-north-georgia/

If true then my wife is from Mayan descent. Really makes my day!

p.s. Lila Downs is a goddess among us that one day I’ll be overwhelmed to see! I’ve been listening to her since I noticed her in the FRIDA movie.
