WBZ-AM 1030

There was absolute crap on the radio airwaves during Irene except for this lone station in Boston “WBZ”, that even commercial fisherman trying to ride out the Hurricane in their deadrise’s in the Bay listened to and remarked it was their only source for no BS information. A big THANKS to WBZ for being there in a sea of idiots. Short Wave radio has been ruined by religious nuts. FM is nice for music, but to listen to others share riding out the storm is what most sane people needed.

It was really kind of absurd, one of the main things to have in a hurricane is a transistor radio and it wasn’t easy finding this only station that had the foresight to produce programming that had some intellect to it. There were some other informative channels but most wasted your time waiting for what you wanted to hear. In other words BAD radio, PERIOD! I usually only listen to PBR which I love but I needed a little extra when the “ship was sinking” that they lacked. WBZ succeeded at this and was a true godsend to listen to during Irene.
We left for the mountains for my mother-in-laws 91 birthday so I have a weeks worth of beautiful photographs pending. 90,000 are still with out electricity here but we were lucky when we returned. I was eating at the hospital behind us before we left and we just finished scrubbing the fridge after loosing everything in it. Over all we are very thankful and miss our old neighbors we helped during Isabel that have passed away. Not being able to help any one this time has left a void in enduring a major storm.
