IRENE VIBE #2

The weather lady we could only wish for!

On a more serious side the sustained winds we will be having this weekend is nothing to take lightly. Keep your wits about you regarding power lines, falling trees, and debris. BE SAFE! Hopefully the clean up won’t be as bad as Isabel.

This was to be a big weekend for my dance friends, info here : http://illuminationdancestudio.com/

satellite studio : briefly show the full scale finished clay work sculpture prior to molding it for the bronze casting. This work is in progress so orginal photograph will be pending…….. I can’t say any more than this sculpture is a beauty!

A couple of photos from July. I can’t help from being concerned about friends and family at the beach this weekend and have contacted friends as far as Boston regarding Irene. If a Hurricane party is on your “to do list”. I can’t think of anything more misguided. The weather people in the thick of it is obnoxious too but I enjoy watching them at their expense and I have to admit I’d love to be photographing Neptune during the storm surge if I was only the tough guy of my youth.

Mummy Fever

I missed seeing the Ululating Mummies this week but thanks to a wonderful picture Arthur Stephens sent me of Barry and a couple of visits to the VMFA, I’ve been indulging in Mummy Fever in more ways than one. Al and I also picked up a cheap DVD at Walmart of Ray Harryhausens, masterwork, “CLASH OF THE TITANS” which relates in a big way also.

ELLWOOD’S CAFE

This place has wonderful music week after week. When it was High’s Ice Cream back in the 70’s I had visited it often with my mom, so it holds a lot of good vibes for me besides what a great place it is now.

“Poetry In Motion”

The first time I heard this quote was by Vernon David back during the 70’s.

Below are a couple of spins of which is a constant search for the perfect shutter speed.

Shari’s enthusiasm is a marvel.

Finally, I’ve reduced my friend to a cartoon?

RUINS

I wasn’t sure how wild the vegetation on the abandoned East End Theater is going to get so I revisited late today. Only ever photographed it in the morning.

Robin Payne

I was lucky enough to catch Robin Payne at Ellwood’s Cafe last evening and haven’t seen anyone play acoustic guitar so fluid since Tony Rice at the Folk Festival. It was a special treat from a family of great string players. Well done Robin!

below: photo Arthur Stephens

Since it was a full moon, I made it over to CROSSROADS with Arthur to catch The Happy Lucky Combo with two horn players this evening that had a Grand Wazoo effect. Have an interesting clip on youtube of the horns playing “Turkey Town”.

My Son the Doctor

I went out tonight just to enjoy some music but found myself taking a hundred or more photographs. This is my first Cinemagraph that I’ve been meaning to try for a while, pretty cool!
