Swamp Azalea

A good friend photographed the tail end of these blooming last spring. Some how I was really drawn to them and have finally figured out my memory of them that I had taken for granted in my folks yard many years ago. My dad had a beautiful collection of them that he had treasured and knew when to cut them for the best blooms. John has also noticed them on his many canoe trips fishing our local waterways and says the best he’s seen are on the North Anna River.

Good on you for catching these as they are just opening. Two days ago they were closed up tight as a tick.
