MAYO’S ISLAND PARK

mf-1b

Dad (O2) would tell me great stories about taking the trolley to see ball games at this Park along with seeing Babe Ruth during exhibition games. These photos are from the spring 1985 VIRGINIA CAVALCADE article, Richmond Sports at Flood Tide: Mayo Island 1921-1941 by Harry M. Ward.

Thanks Ot – Did not know about the Broad Street Park but found this article at U of R with some pretty good history.

Dad took night classes in accounting at UR in the 30’s when the school was down on Lombardy and Grace.
